The Thursday Programs are back - designed for high school students to get a 'jumpstart' to future careers
We are now taking applications for our Thursday “Jumpstart” program, where students enrolled in Years 10 or 11 can join us on Thursdays at our Cairns campus for a Certificate II in Hospitality (SIT20316) or Certificate II in Tourism (SIT20116) program.
The program will run over two terms and successful graduates may be invited to continue with a school-based traineeship at Certificate III level.
Who can apply ?
Applicants must be enrolled in Years 10 or 11 in 2018 to be eligible to apply.

When does it start ?
There are two parts to this program:
Part 1: Starts Thursday 11th October 2018 (5 x Thursdays)
Part 2: Starts Thursday 14th February 2019 (7 x Thursdays)
Students must attend all classes and complete assessments between terms.
Do I wear a uniform ?
All students are required to wear:
- Edwards Institute polo shirt (supplied)
- Black dress pants (no jeans or leggings)
- Black shoes (not sneakers)
- Black socks
- Black shorts and sneakers may be worn on certain excursions, as advised during the course.
How much does it cost ?
The course is funded under the Queensland Government’s VETiS initiative. No fees are charged for eligible students.
What can I do if I am in Year 12 ?
Year 12s can apply for our Certificate III level courses, either the November 2018 start, or the February 2019 start. We are also taking applications for the Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management (SIT50116) and the Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50416). Both of these programs commence in February 2019.
