Creative Industries essentials

Practical Application

In any workplace in Australia it is essential to be aware of work health and safety, and the creative industries sector is no different.

All students must complete the following units:

  • CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry
  • CUAWHS302 Apply work health and safety practices

In addition, due to the importance of understanding copyright, students are also required to complete the following unit:

  • CUACMP301 Implement copyright arrangement

Students undertaking the school-based traineeship program will complete a selection of units that focus on developing their knowledge of the creative industry as a whole, as well as their communications skills.

Students will need to complete several units that focus on written, verbal and non-verbal communication.

They will also be required to work with colleagues, contractors and of course the public, and as such they must have strong communication skills.

All students will be required to use Word and Powerpoint, or Pages and Keynote, throughout the program.

The CUA30415 Certificate III in Live Production and Services school based traineeship requires that students complete 380 hours per year of the traineeship. If the duration of the traineeship is more than twelve months, the number of hours will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Due to the practical nature of this program, a workplace resource assessment will be required to ensure that relevant equipment and personnel are available throughout the traineeship.

Student logsheets are provided in order for students to record their duties and practical hours.

Compulsory workshops:

Two workshops, each of one week’s duration, are scheduled for 2019 on the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Dates will be advised in the student’s welcome pack.
